The Cost of Sleeping In
I felt very lucky Saturday morning because Ryan woke up at 7:00, ate, and fell back asleep! The much-needed sleeping in was great. I felt somewhat refreshed as we woke up at 9:00. Much to my dismay, Kait, who typically snuggles on the couch with a movie in the morning (and yes she can turn on a DVD all by herself) was not watching a movie. Instead, she had taken both boxes of new Band-Aids, Barbie for her and Curious George for Bug, and used all but five of them on her dolls and herself. She said, “My babies were hurt and I made them better.” The question is this, was sleeping in worth a few boxes of band-aids?

I believe
I believe that people are inherently good. Everywhere I go I run into people who truly want to help others. I went to Haggen yesterday and was at the entryway where I decided to leave the shopping cart I was using (since I found it there) rather than wheeling it out into the rain across the parking lot. It was one that looks like a car with a front seat where the kids can sit up front and drive and they are monsters to push around. I grabbed the bag of items I purchased, my purse, the baby in his car seat, and told Kaitlin to grab my hand. Then the nicest woman tapped me on the shoulder. She wondered if there was anything, anything at all, she could do to help me. I did not know her and I am not sure why she chose me to offer her assistance (besides for the fact that I often look like a pack horse) but it was noted as a very generous and thoughtful thing for her to do! Today I was at Wal-Mart putting my shopping bags into my car with one hand and holding up the gate on the Jeep with the other. For some reason when it is cold, it will not stay open by itself. A worker stopped to hold it for me. Now he was “on duty” I suppose, but he could have easily walked by and continued to collect stray carts in the parking lot. Bottom line: thanks to those who help others through little acts of kindness!
